Chuck was preceded in death by his parents.
Born October 17, 1928, in rural Winneshiek County, Chuck was the son of Charlie and Esther (Landmeyer) Engen. He graduated from Decorah High School and Luther College where he was an outstanding football player. On February 13, 1960, he was united in marriage to Nancy Schrader. Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Cramer & Associates where he was a superintendent on bridge construction.
Chuck was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a trustee, elder and served on the stewardship committee and was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed building things with his hands, gardening, woodworking, climbing ladders and drinking coffee at Hy-Vee.
Our father, grandfather and husband built bridges over roads and water all his life, but he also built bridges between people. There was no one he wouldn’t talk to. He will be remembered for his kindness, his faith, his loving heart, his sense of humor and his dedication to his family and friends.
