Ed Carlson “The Waver” was born on March 7, 1937. He passed away to the other side Friday, December 28, 2012, at his daughter Cecelia’s house in Cedar Rapids where he lived since our momma passed away in 2008. Ed was born and raised in Burlington, Iowa.
Wow our daddy/dear friend was such a wonderful man. His spirit was only of unconditional love, forgiveness and pure light. Daddy enjoyed so much in his life, watching football, basketball, old cowboy shows and The Walton’s, he would even cry every time he would watch that show even though he’d seen every episode 15 times. His biggest enjoyment was helping, giving his wave, smile and a comfort stone and a gentle inspirational word to thousands across the U.S. You are the best daddy and friend in the world to all who met you or waved back.
Surviving “The Waver” are his three daughters, Sheley (Ryan) of Wapello, Iowa, Kristina (Paul) of Cedar Rapids and Cecelia (Paul) of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Chad “DMO”, Jessica Butterfield and Austin Naujoks; and hundreds of thousands of friends in this world.
Preceding him into the light were his wife, dear friend, Bonnie (Carlson) Mumm; daughter, Theresia; and his parents.
Please send memorials to Cecelia Carlson at 1722 Apache Trail NW Cedar Rapids, 52405, or Kristina Butterfield at 2114 Belmont Parkway Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52405.
