Charles “Charlie” T. Stuppy, 97, of Delhi, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Michigan. A “Celebration of Life” family gathering will be held Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Chris McDonald home, 11 Market Street, Delhi, Iowa. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester is in charge of the arrangements.

Charlie was born September 30, 1914 in Sunset, Indiana, the son of Clem and Anna (O’Neil) Stuppy. On April 29, 1949, he was united in marriage to Leslie E. Stiles in Hartford, Michigan. Charlie worked for the South Bend Tribune in the Composing Room, retiring in 1979.

Charlie enjoyed his family, golfing, bowling, and was held in high regards by his fellow co-workers. He belonged to the Dowagiac Lion’s Club, The International Order of Elk’s Club, and Masonic Lodge.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Leslie; four children, Charles (Marlene) Stuppy, Jr. of Florida, Christine McDonald of Delhi, Jane (Greg) Horn of Fort Dodge, and Robert (Marisa) Stuppy of California; 19 grandchildren,; James Cross, Jeff Cross, Joanna Cross, Jon Cross, Kim Couet, David Stuppy, Timothy Stuppy, Melissa Cox, Ronald Stuppy, Merry Rickert, Matthew Botos, Benjamin Botos, Abby McDonald, Chaz Vance, Robert Stuppy II.; Samantha Stuppy, Daniel Stuppy, Emily Stuppy, Jacob Horn, 24 great- grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Anna Stuppy; a daughter, Betty Jean Cross; a granddaughter, Margaret “Maggie” Vance; a great-grandson, Eddie Miller; siblings, Margaurette, Martha, Evelyn, William and James.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to: the Dowagiac Lions Club, the Delhi Lions Club or Hospice of Comfort, Manchester in memory of Charlie.
