Charles “Charlie” Quaas, 70, of Alburnett, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Billie Jo Quaas; two sons, Todd (Michelle Ogden) Quaas and Chad (Connie) Quaas, both of Alburnett; five grandchildren, Todd (Rachael) Quaas of Marion and their children, Aaron, Chloe, and Ezrah, Tony (Shelby) Quaas of Cedar Rapids and their son, Noah, Tiffany Quaas of Des Moines, and Dakota and Dylan Quaas; brother, Robert “Bob” Quaas; and sister, Janet (Dan) Prosser.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charlie was born July 17, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Margaret (Schrodermier) Quaas. He was united in marriage to Billie Jo Germaine. Charlie graduated from Alburnett High School and served in the National Guard. He was a longtime Linn County farmer and electrician. Charlie was a member of the Alburnett coffee clubs for many years. He enjoyed golfing and spending time outdoors, mowing, and taking care of his flower gardens. Charlie was very proud of his tractor collection and also enjoyed antiquing.
