Celia G. Pond, 80, of Swisher, Iowa, passed away, Saturday, June 16, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Private family burial at Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, Iowa.
Celia was born March 12, 1938, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Ysidoro and Louisa Rodriguez. She was the youngest of eleven children. Celia was married for 55 wonderful years to Alan Pond. To this union, four children were born: Mark “Bubba” (Kim) Pond of Watauga, Texas, Mary (Mike) Schutte of Janesville, Wisconsin, Mike Pond of Swisher and Joe (Kelly) Pond of Swisher. She was blessed with ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with another arriving September. Celia cherished family, friends, Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals and spending her winters in Texas and Mesa, Arizona. She was entertaining and always the life of the party.
Celia’s family wishes to extend our sincerest gratitude to UnityPoint Hospice and especially nurses Suzanne and Andrea “Red”, and Chaplain Michael.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to be directed to UnityPoint Hospice in Celia’s name.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. October 20, 2018, at the Swisher American Legion.
