Cecilia Evelyn McKinley, died in her parents’ arms at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Monday, July 27th, 2009. Services: 4:30 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Noelle Andrew. The family will greet friends from 3- 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Cecilia is deeply loved by her parents, Anna Barnts & Mark McKinley; grandparents, Jeff & Kimberly Fehlhafer, John & Penny Barnts, Clara & Roland Hill, and Michael McKinley; great grandparents, Jim & Edie Barger, Irene Galloway, Jim Bramley, and Joyce & Jerry Fehlhafer; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She now joins her grandparents, Cherie Bramley, Tom & Evelyn McKinley, Irwin Galloway, Kathryn & Harry Barnts, and great-uncle, Jim McKinley, in her new heavenly home.
Cecilia was born July 20, 2009, in Iowa City, Iowa and though her time on earth was brief, she had a profound effect on the lives she touched. Her mommy and daddy loved her so much and stayed committed to keeping what was best for Cecilia at the center of all decisions made for her care. They cherished every moment they shared with her. Their hearts do ache with the loss and yet they feel privileged for the week they spent together with her.
Anna and Mark would like to thank the staff at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics for the unparalleled support and care Cecilia received. They especially thank the staff of NICU Bay One and all of the doctors, nurses, and support staff that cared so beautifully for Anna, Mark and Cecilia.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in honor of Cecilia at Collins Community Credit Union, 1150 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52402.
