Cecilia A. Lindauer, 86, of Manchester, Iowa, died Thursday morning, November 3, 2005, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2005 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. Henry Huber. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester, with a Rosary beginning at 2:00 p.m., and one hour before services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Manchester.
Cecilia was born on July 23, 1919 in New Vienna, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Hullerman) Oberbroeckling. She attended country school near New Vienna. On November 21, 1939 Cecilia was united in marriage to Raymond C. Lindauer at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. The couple farmed in the Petersburg area until settling on the family farm near Dundee in 1953. In 1989, they moved to Manchester. Ray died on March 18, 1992.
Cecilia was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester where she belonged to the Catholic Daughters and Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, crocheting, embroidering, flower gardening and the outdoors. Cecilia especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Cecilia is survived by her children, Patricia "Pat? (Bernard) Fangmann of Elkader, Gerald "Jerry? (Pam) Lindauer of Manchester, Joan (Dave) Tegeler of Dyersville, Virgil (Anna Mae) Lindauer of Manchester, Linda (Merlin) Errthum, of Manchester, Joyce (Dave) Miller of Ryan and Ron (Diane) Lindauer of Robins; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandhcildren; two brothers, Alois and Edwin Oberbroeckling, both of Dyersville; and a sister-in-law, Betty Oberbroeckling of Manchester.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Clara Oberbroeckling; husband, Raymond Lindauer in 1992; five brothers, Alphonse, Gregory, Hugo, Lawrence and Vincent Oberbroeckling; and four sisters, Catherine Hoefer, Mary Wessels, Dorothy Wessels, and Hilda Klostermann.
