Cecil A. Dennis, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died April 3, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospice, Cedar Rapids. There will be a private family burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Cecil is survived by his children, Mark Dennis and Tressa Dennis, both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and brother, Fred Dennis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertha; daughter, Tonya; sisters, Lucille Houston, Virginia Behrends; and brother, Melvin Dennis.
Cecil was born April 6, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Charles and Leora (Smith) Dennis. He married Bertha Burks on November 27, 1964, in Rock Island, Illinois. Cecil was a self-employed auto body repairman and truly enjoyed street rods. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. His family finds peace in knowing that he and his loving wife Bertha are together again.
