Cathleen Anne Johanns, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids by Father Tom McDermott followed by a lunch at the church. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52404, where a prayer service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Private family burial will be in Osage.
Survivors include her husband, Leo of Cedar Rapids; four children, Stephen (Tina) Johanns of Naperville, Illinois, Julie (Mike) Cassidy of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Aaron (Mariah) Johanns of Iowa City, and Elizabeth (Ontario) Whiteside of Dubuque; nine grandchildren, Benjamin Patrick Johanns, Lauren Annette Johanns, Kate Renee Johanns, Grace Cathleen Cassidy, Patrick Michael Cassidy, Airiana Elizabeth Whiteside, Izaiah Joseph Whiteside, Demi Christina Johanns, and Lanie Marie Johanns; and four brothers, Gary, Fred, Elon, and Mike Flack.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cathleen was born January 19, 1949, the daughter of Benjamin and Eileen (Donovan) Flack in Osage, Iowa. On May 27, 1967, she married Leo Johanns at Sacred Heart Church in Osage. Cathleen worked as a customer service representative for twenty-five years.
Cathleen was a member of St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed her grandchildren, cooking, knitting, prayer groups, and having margaritas with her friends.
