Catherine M. Elson, 89, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Marion, died Friday, December 5, 2003, at her home, following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Jerry Springston. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Midway, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Earl of Mesa; a son, William C. Elson and wife Fay of Hiawatha; a daughter, Martha J. Cameron and husband Keith of Lilburn, Georgia; four grandchildren, Rodney Elson of Chicago, Illinois, Brett Elson of Dallas, Texas, Tammy Cameron of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Todd Cameron and wife Amy of Atlanta, Georgia; and one great-grandson, Parker Cameron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers.
Catherine was born August 19, 1914, the daughter of William and Myrtle (Garrison) Beaner in Cedar Rapids. On November 22, 1934, she married Earl P. Elson in Dubuque. Catherine worked at Rockwell Collins for thirty years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren. Catherine was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing various courses while they lived in Arizona. She also enjoyed flowers, curling, shuffleboard and playing bingo.
