Carolyn A. Bascom Kizziar, 57, of 140 Cedar Drive, Marion, joined the Lord Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Doug Morris. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; her children, Michael L. Carlin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeannice M. Takes and husband Ron of Troy Mills and Edward A. Rohn of Camron, Missouri; two brothers, Warren M. Bascom and wife Loretta of McPhearson, Kansas, Raymond D. Bascom and wife Linda of Sierra Vista, Arizona; a sister, Myrlene R. Strawn and husband John of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Summer D. Carlin.
Carolyn was born November 20, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Edward O. (Toby) and C. Maxine (Evans) Bascom. She married Charles S. Kizziar on December 28, 1988, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Carolyn worked at GC Services prior to her illness. She collected Angels and Pillsbury Dough Boys. Carolyn was an avid card player and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She left behind her beloved cat, Callie.
