Carol A. Witting, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away, Monday, January 31, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. There will be a Vigil Service at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will immediately follow the vigil service at the funeral home until 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Carol was born August 29, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lewis and Kathleen (Cruise) Hensely. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1954. On September 27, 1958, Carol was united in marriage to Bernard H. “Witt” Witting in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of St. Patrick, St. Ludmila, and most recently, St. Jude Catholic Church. Carol was a loving homemaker who enjoyed singing, playing the piano, and making ceramics. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Mark (Susan) Witting of Fairfax, Matt Witting of Cedar Rapids, Jon (Julie) Witting of Cedar Rapids, and Jan (Cory) Witting of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Judy Hensely of Cedar Rapids and Hope Hensely of Minneapolis.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard “Witt” Witting; and brothers, Alan, Terrence, and Richard Hensely.
