Carol Frances Schantz (White)

Carol Frances Schantz, 72, of Alburnett, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with brain cancer. Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Marion Christian Church, Marion, by Rev. Peter Mitchell. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Amy (Steve) Brown of Vinton, Andrew (Michelle) Schantz of Frankfort, IL, and Aaron (Jana) Schantz of Wichita, KS; sister, Lois (Robert) Whitcomb of Marshall, MN; sister-in-law, Gerry White of Colorado Springs, CO.; and grandchildren, Chelsea and Trevor Brown, and Amanda, Nathaniel, and Zachary Schantz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James White; and granddaughter, Gabrielle Schantz.
Carol was born January 28, 1941, in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of James and Sylvia (Malick) White, and grew up in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon. Carol worked at Duane Arnold Energy Center as an Administrative Secretary for over 20 years, retiring in 2010. She was a member of Marion Christian Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Carol was also previously a member of the Farm Bureau Chorus and enjoyed gardening and traveling. She especially loved time spent with her family and friends; her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
