Carol Henderson
January 20, 1929 — February 9, 2018
Carol Henderson, 89, of Marion, formerly Central City, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018, surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion with Reverend Jon Moss officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the Celebration on Saturday at the funeral home. Private Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mills Cemetery, rural Paris.
Carol was born January 20, 1929, in rural Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Eddie and Laura (Dorman) Henderson. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1947. She attended Upper Iowa University receiving a teaching certificate. Carol taught rural school in Linn County for three years. She and her husband Melvin, were married December 20, 1947, in Coggon. Carol lived her entire life farming and ranching in rural Central City. She and Mel enjoyed their many trail rides and horse events throughout the west and mid-west. Carol treasured the times spent with her family. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers and ice cream.
She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Henderson of Lanesboro, Minnesota; sons, Nyle (Susan) Henderson of Ness City, Kansas, and Mark (Liz) Henderson of Coggon, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; brothers, John Henderson and Duane Henderson; and sister, Celia Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
