Carol J. Franck, 64, of 1711 C Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, March 3, 2008, in her home following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Randy Kasch. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; children, Larry (Penny) Franck, Connie (John) Varner, Brian (Deb) Franck and Michelle (Scott) Klinkkammer all of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren, Ryan Franck, Allison Franck, Nicole Werling, Jarred Johnston, Mary Varner, Corey Franck, Zachary Franck, Brennan Franck, Jessica Klinkkammer, Katie Klinkkammer and Matthew Klinkkammer; brothers, Harold Hill, Jr. of Waterloo, George (Barb) Hill of Cedar Rapids; and sister, Sharon Dziewanowski of Urbana.
She was preceded in death by her mother; brother, Kenneth Hill; and brother-in-law, Tom Dziewanowski.
Carol was born December 25, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Maxine (McElwain) Hill, Sr. On June 9, 1961, she married Larry Franck, Sr. in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. A life long resident of Cedar Rapids, she was employed at Kmart for 32 years.
One of Carol’s greatest joys was her family and friends. She always found good in everyone. Carol also enjoyed bowling, collecting “Cherished Teddies” and embroidering. She was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Pastor Joe Kaplan, hospice nurse, Jennifer Hohneke, social worker, Sarah Jordan, Dr. Wiesenfeld and the staff at Oncology Associates.
A memorial fund has been established in Carol’s memory.
