Carol Kay Dostal (Hauser)

Carol Kay Dostal, 70, of 910 7th Street S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, March 13, 2009, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Deb and husband Kevin Ruzicka; granddaughter, Roni; and grandson, Rhett all of Swisher; sisters-in-law, Betty Dostal of Cedar Rapids, JoAnn Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Linda Hauser of San Ysidro, California; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her parents; and a brother, Jerry Hauser.
Carol was born August 23, 1938, in Iowa City, the daughter of William and Irma Hauser. She was a 1956 graduate of Wilson High School. On October 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Ron Dostal. She worked for many years for Drs. Robert Vane, Sr. and Jr. as a certified dental assistant.
Carol adored her grandchildren as they gave her the inspiration and passion for life. She struggled the majority of her life with multiple illnesses but was always a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandma and friend.

Carol’s family would like to thank Dr. Yacoub, the wonderful nurses at Mercy Medical Center, Hospice of Mercy, Mercy Dialysis Units and all the friends and family who comforted her during her final days.
