Carmen "Tommie? V. LeClere, 84, of Cottage Grove Place, formerly of Marion died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, of congestive heart failure. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Traverce Harrison. Friends may call from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; a son, Leo John LeClere and wife Kim of Bernard; and a daughter, Jan Patschke and husband Don of Denver, Colorado.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Troy, Georgia, Nicole, Chris and Dan; a great-granddaughter, Emily; and a great-grandson, Peter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Armen Miller and Lyndell Miller, and a sister, Patricia Nolte.
Carmen was born the daughter of Sam and Mrytle Burcham Miller on April 23, 1918, in Des Arc, Missouri. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1935 and Iowa Methodist Hospital Nurse Training of Des Moines in 1939. Carmen was united in marriage to Harold LeClere on September 24, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a member of Noelridge Christian Church and was very active in numerous Sunday School and church activities for many years. She was also a member of Marion Chapter 183 O.E.S., Kings Daughters Fidelis Circle and Marion Mothers Club Alumni since 1964.
A memorial fund has been established in Carmen "Tommie?s? memory.
