Carl F. Wagner, 80, of Windmill Manor, Coralville, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, June 5, 2006, at the care center, following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Windmill Manor; a daughter, Janis Holdridge of Coppell, Texas; a son, David Wagner and daughter-in-law, Tammy of Cedar Rapids; and four grandchildren, Cassandra Holdridge, Kaitlin Wagner, Lucas Wagner and Alyssa Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Irene Fowler.

Carl was born July 14, 1925, the son of Frederick and Irene (Smith) Wagner, in Iowa City, Iowa. He served with the National Guard. On March 4, 1950, Carl was united in marriage to Helen M. Walser in Iowa City. For 36 years, he worked as a print press operator, retiring from Cryovac.

Carl enjoyed being a carpenter and electrician, but his favorite passion was fishing. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved to go gambling, especially to the casinos in Vegas. Carl will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
