Carl Henry Rauch, Jr., 92, of Marion, formerly of Davenport, suddenly passed away in his sleep on March 30, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with visitation one hour before and burial to follow at Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport.

Carl was born October 8, 1924, in Buffalo, Iowa, the son of Carl and Lillie (Christensen) Rauch. He was a 1942 graduate of Buffalo High School and soon thereafter was employed by Dewey Portland Cement Company in Buffalo.

In 1951, Carl married Leona Marie (Lee) Schaubroeck at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport.

After 48 years at what had become Davenport Cement Company, Carl retired as Purchasing Director in 1990. He and Lee enjoyed spending winters in Palmetto, Florida. They had been married 60 years when she passed away in 2011.

Carl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Davenport, Trinity Lodge 208 A.F. & A.M., Mohassan Grotto, Kaaba Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Jesters, Knights of Pythias, and Quad City Times Plus 60 Club. All knew him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and provider. Most importantly, Carl knew Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Survivors include son, Richard (Beth) of Cedar Rapids; grandsons, Robert (Abigail) Rauch of Ankeny, Thomas Rauch of Cedar Falls, and Joseph Rauch of Cedar Rapids; sister, Mary Lemm of Gainesville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his beloved wife, Carl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis, Chester and Richard; sister, Eloise Bullock; and daughter, Susan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
