Carl W. Fuelster, Jr., 82, of Manchester, died Wednesday evening, January 2, 2008 in his home, following a long cancer illness.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester by Rev. Kurt Pasko. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and one hour before services Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester with military honors.
Carl was born September 16, 1925 in Davenport, the son of Carl W. and Frieda (Hinz) Fuelster. He attended Davenport High School and graduated from Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. On February 27, 1949 Carl was united in marriage to Evelyn May Diehl in Moline, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy .
Carl taught Industrial Arts at West Delaware High School for 37 years. He was a member of the Manchester American Legion Post #45. Carl enjoyed Big Band music, record collecting, sports (especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers), golf and cooking.
Carl is survived by his wife, Evelyn Fuelster of Manchester; two daughters, Karen (Jon) Worden of Manchester and Kathy Fuelster of Marion; and a sister, Frieda Bootz of Niles, IL.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl, Sr. and Frieda Fuelster; and a brother, Hans Fuelster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Delaware Co. Hospice of Comfort or the American Cancer Society.
