Carl A. Brose, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. Family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Shirley McMahon, Geraldine Spoo, Mary Bernauer, Teresa Dickson and Junie Hackett; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and siblings, Johanna Goyer, Rosie Berger and Clara Dye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Bill Elliott.
Carl was born on December 14, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, son of William and Olive (St. Martin) Brose. He married Leora Candler on April 18, 1953; she later passed away in 2008. Carl loved his family and being around people. He enjoyed working, fishing, reading, playing games on the computer, going to church at Hope Lutheran and listening to Czech music.
