Carey Lynn Van Etten (Lisenbee)

Carey Lynn Van Etten, 51, of Mount Vernon, died Friday, February 6, 2009, in her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Ben; her mother, Marlene Lisenbee of North Liberty; her brother, Bob (Terese) Lisenbee of North Liberty; her in-laws, John (Marilyn) Van Etten of Cedar Rapids; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert.
Carey was born July 22, 1957, the daughter of Robert and Marlene (Sullivan) Lisenbee, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On September 1, 1990, she was united in marriage to Ben Van Etten in Nashua, Iowa. Carey worked at Simmons Perrine. An avid outdoors person, she loved to fish, tend to her horses and was a custom saddle maker.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Carey.
