Candis Rae Schmidt Stark, 47, of Marion and formerly of Cedar Rapids, was called to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, March 17, 2003, after a valiant battle with cancer. Memorial Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at First United Methodist Church, Marion, by the Rev. Melisa Bracht-Wagner. Inurnment: St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Lynn Stark of Cedar Rapids; her mother, Ruby Jean Speck of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Sheryle (Dick) Backes of Jesup and Pamela Hansen of Cedar Rapids; and her adoptive family, Bernice and her son Gerald Schmidt of Cedar Rapids.
Preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Allan.
Candis was born to Virgil and Ruby Jean Noble on July 6, 1955, in Waterloo. A resident of Cedar Rapids for 40 years, and a 1973 graduate of Jefferson High School. Her life was filled with music and performance. She had a great love and talent for children, as she did in-home daycare for 16 years. Candy enjoyed cooking, crafts and authored a book, "It?s a God Thing?. She loved sharing her amazing stories of unshakeable faith, complete with gifts of blessings and miracles.
