C. Michelle Jenney, 44, of 1718 Wenig Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, February 16, 2004, at home, surrounded by her family after a heroic battle with cancer. Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Father Mark Osterhaus. Friends may call from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, John, Jr; her children, John Jenney, Jason (fiancé Elizabeth) Jenney and Tiffany Jenney, all of Cedar Rapids; her grandchild, Julian Jenney; two sisters, Deborah Stevens and Stephanie (Bob) Willits, all of Cedar Rapids; a stepsister, Julie (Lee) York of Cedar Rapids; a stepbrother, Chandler (Susan) Evans of Des Moines; a half-sister, Megan Haigh of Norfolk, Virginia; a half-brother, Michael Carpenter of Iowa City; two sisters-in-law, Jill (Tom) Barnhouse of Kansas and Judi (Steve) Kell of Indiana; her mother-in-law, Sandy Jenney of Cedar Rapids; and father-in-law, John Jenney, Sr. Also surviving is her father, Lyle (Bonita) Carpenter of Cedar Rapids; several nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Coleen Evans; and her beloved stepfather, Al Evans.
Michelle was born April 1, 1959, the daughter of Lyle and Coleen (Rosa) Carpenter, on the Naval Base in Agana, Guam. A 1977 graduate of Kennedy High School, she was united in marriage to John Jenney, Jr. in November, 1976. Michelle was a homemaker and most recently an associate of Wal-Mart. She was a member of the St. Matthews Catholic Church and loved her family and children dearly. Michelle also loved to crochet.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ghosh Foundation or Hospice of Mercy, in memory of Michelle.
