C. Craig Brandon, 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died after a long battle with lung cancer Monday, December 21, 2015, at his home. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015, at the Cedar Valley Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2204 26th Street NW Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa is assisting the family.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Brandon of Cedar Rapids; children, Jae (Maria) Brandon of Fredericksburg, Iowa, and Aaron (Cassie) Brandon of Wallkill, New York; and sister, Jackie (Mark) Zobac of Vinton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jeanne Ann Brandon.
Craig was born January 13, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Charles and Carolyn (Uhlenberg) Brandon. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and later attended Upper Iowa College. On February 17, 1968, Craig married Becky Roberts in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Craig was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge he returned to Cedar Rapids, and later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he worked at Chesapeake Refrigeration for 10 years. In 1982, he returned to Cedar Rapids where he worked at Modern Piping. Craig started Ace Refrigeration with Dennis Bland in 1985; he later sold the business to his son, Jae and partners. Craig was a beloved elder in the Cedar Valley Congregation. He additionally volunteered for 6 months at the United States Branch of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wallkill, New York. Craig was an avid Canadian fisherman and loved to golf.
