Generose C. Casey, 90, a member of the Meth-Wick Community, formerly of Coggon, died Thursday evening, April 21, 2005, after a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, at St. John?s Catholic Church in Coggon by Rev. Wayne Droessler. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City where a Vigil Service will be recited at 7 p.m. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery in Coggon.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Casey of Cedar Rapids and Paula Ryan and husband Bill of Coggon; four sons, William and wife, Kathleen, of Marion, Patrick and wife, Mary, of Cedar Rapids, John and wife, Donita, of Brandon and Kevin and wife, Carmen of Martelle; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Casey-Olson of Coggon; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who died April 10, 1993; a son, Gerald, who died in 1989; her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Reilly Cashman; four sisters, Marie Duggan, Eleanor Cashman, Sister M. Thomasine, RSM and Sister M. Eleanor, RSM; and three brothers, Edward, Leo and Raymond.

Generose was born May 25, 1914, on a farm northeast of Coggon. She married Paul W. Casey on May 25, 1939, at St. John?s Catholic Church, Coggon. The couple farmed near Coggon nearly all their married life. Generose was a member of St. John?s Catholic Church in Coggon for over 75 years and a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids for the past twelve years.

A memorial fund has been established in Generose?s memory.
