Bryon John “Bones” Strong, 44, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, August 23, 2015. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Per Bryon’s request, guests are asked to dress casually. A Time of Remembrance will begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and will be led by Pastor Carol Mart. Private family burial will be at Wilcox Cemetery in Viola.
Survivors include his mother, Jeanette of Cedar Rapids; his daughter, Ashley; his brother, Boyd (Deb) Strong of Cedar Rapids; numerous aunts and uncles including Jerry (Marlene) Nagel of Cedar Rapids, Joe (Marlene) Nagel of Central City, and John (Shirley) Nagel of Antigo, Wisconsin; several cousins including Michele (Mark) Lennon of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa and Annette (Tom) Cruse of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his cat, Fiona; and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry; maternal grandparents, John and Louise Nagel; paternal grandparents, Boyd and Mae Strong; and his uncle, Jim Nagel.
Bryon was born June 22, 1971, the son of Jerry and Jeanette (Nagel) Strong in Cedar Rapids. He attended Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Bryon worked as a drywaller and professional stagehand. He loved fishing, was a great cook, and was always generous with his affection and his hugs.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bryon’s memory.
