Bruce L. Sandberg, 62, of Central City, died Monday, December 16, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2002, at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Center Point by the Rev. David Hansen. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial: Alice Cemetery, rural Center Point. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Center Point.
Surviving are his wife of forty-one years, Phyllis; a son Mark Sandberg and wife Hailee of Rowley; a brother, Larry Sandberg of Walker; a sister-in-law, Patty Gothe and husband Al of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Ron Jons and wife Pat of Central City; and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jerry Sandberg.
He was born the son of Elmer and EmMarie (Hansen) Sandberg on September 10, 1940, in Cedar Rapids. On December 8, 1961, in St. John?s Lutheran Church in Center Point he was united in marriage to Phyllis Jons. Bruce farmed for over forty years in the Rowley area. He was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Center Point.
He took great pride in farming. He worked very hard and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Bruce?s memory.
