Bruce Allan Olinger, 63, of Nashville, TN, formerly of Springville, went peacefully into the arms of our Savior, December 30, 2011 following a heartfelt battle with cancer. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. H. Burr Bryant. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids with military honors.

Bruce is survived by his parents, Roy and Anna of Springville; brothers, Ron (Nancy) of Springville, and John (Betty) of Cedar Rapids; nephew and nieces, Nick, Elaine, Krysta and Kelsey, whom he loved as his own; and his Nashville family of loving cousins, neighbors and friends.

An honors graduate of Springville High School, he went on to the University of Iowa (BS in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Business Administration). Bruce worked several years at John Deere in Moline and ended his career with Nortel in Nashville, Tennessee, where he established his home for the past 25 years. He proudly served his country through R.O.T.C. while in college, followed by four years of service in the Air Force. Bruce never missed attending or watching a game cheering on the Hawkeyes and the Cubbies – a passion he shared with his mother. An avid photographer, Bruce captured treasured family times and life on the farm, providing us with lasting memories of time spent together.

Those fortunate to have known Bruce each hold their own special memories in their hearts. He will be dearly missed.

Memorials may be directed to Crievewood United Methodist Church, 451 Hogan Road, Nashville TN 37220 in Bruce’s memory.
