Bruce Alan Johnson, 45, of 1127 Lincoln Drive, Marion, died at his home Sunday, November 20, 2005. Memorial Services: 10 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2005, at First Baptist Church - Church of the Brethren in Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Tammy Buseman. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, from 3 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 23. Private family inurnment: Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty.
Survivors include a daughter, Katie (Todd) Tumilty of Point Mugu, California; four sons, Joseph, Samuel, Mitchell and Jacob, all of Marion; his parents, Paul and Ila Johnson of North Liberty; a sister, Jodi (Scott) Dunn of North Liberty; a granddaughter, Audrey Tumilty; a special friend, Renee Campbell of Marion; and nieces, Heidi and Shaina Fay and Tia Dunn, all of North Liberty.
Bruce was born in Cedar Rapids on September 25, 1960, to Paul and Ila (James) Johnson. After graduation he helped operate the family-owned business, Jolly Roger Campground, for several years. For the past eleven years, he was a dedicated employee of Cedar River Paper Company. On May 5, 1984, he married Susan Chapman, who had a daughter Katie of Marion. They were later divorced. From this union, Joseph and Samuel were born. On August 17, 1990, he married Kimberly Werling. Mitchell and Jacob were born from this union. Bruce and Kim later divorced.
Bruce enjoyed the outdoors, especially water activities, golfing and grilling out with the family. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Bruce loved the time spent with his sons and adored his new granddaughter. He had a great sense of humor and loved teasing his nieces.
