Bruce G. Freeman, 85, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away, Thursday, June 13, 2019. Visitation: 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 16, 2019, Bohnenkamp – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa, with a time of sharing at 6:00 p.m.. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 17, 2019, at Bohnenkamp – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa. Additional visitation one hour prior to services. Burial: Strawberry Point Cemetery, Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Bruce was born August 6, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Floyd & Marian (Donley) Freeman. Bruce attended Monona High School prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1951. On October 21, 1960, Bruce married Janice Lamphier. Bruce served honorably in the U.S. Navy until his retirement in 1972. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, earning several medals and commendations, including the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Korean Ribbon with 3 Stars, Navy Occupation Service Medal (Asia), China Service Medal, and Good Conduct Awards. Following his retirement in 1972, the family moved to Manchester, Iowa. Bruce enjoyed socializing, playing cards, dining at the Sunset Restaurant, and genealogy. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Bruce is survived by his son, Bruce (Natalie) Freeman, Jr. of Luther, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Bruce Freeman, III; Jason (Kara) DeLaPena and children, Bentlei and Rayden DeLaPena; Caitlyn Wilson and children, Madison Morris and Raegen Wilson; Dylan Corley (Lauran Smith) and son, Blayne Corley; Jessica Hillers (Matt Gulbranson) and children, Jade, Connor, and Colin Hillers; Amy Steger and son, Zander Allen; Krista (Andy) Janson, expecting a daughter; a son-in-law, Doug Steger; and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice Freeman; daughter, Lisa Steger; sister, Maxine “Pat”, brothers, Wendell and Floyd Freeman, Jr.; half-sisters, Wanda, Janice “Jan”, and Marilyn.
