Britt F. Kellogg, 55, of 2600 50th Street, Marion, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at home, due to complications of ALS. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Marion Christian Church by Rev. Dr. Robert Kunz. Per Britt’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. Following the service, there will be a luncheon at the church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his best friend and partner in life for 20 years, Vicki Eichhorst of Marion; two daughters, Angela Eichhorst of Iowa City, and Allyson (Don) Kearney of Fairfax; other family members, Leora Warrick, and Scott (Jill) Warrick; sisters, Gayla (Ed) Kelley, Shiree (Kevin) Verkler, Ginger (Jim) Mechum, Shawn Dunleavy, and Elaine (Mark) Langewalter; his aunt, Toby (Leo) Bissell; and uncle, Gary (Kathy) Kellogg. Britt is also survived by his best dog friends, Gracie, Callie, and Echo, and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
Britt was born June 15, 1953, in Manchester, Iowa, to Francis and Donna (Brewer) Kellogg. He was a member of Marion Christian Church. Britt was a carpenter by trade, and a member of the Carpenters Local Union 308 until being diagnosed with ALS in 2006. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved all of God’s creations and will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Matthew Fox, Dr. Mike Powell, Pastor Bob Kunz, Britt’s Hospice of Mercy team, Lydia Davis, and the Local Chapter of the MDA for their care and support during Britt’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Britt’s name.
