Bradley James Britcher, 48, born March 21, 1960, lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 27, 2008. Memorial Services: 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Fred Darbonne. Family and friends will gather from 4 to 9 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2008, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
In high school, he earned numerous medals in track and football, lettering all three years, graduating as class president from Prairie High School in 1978. He enlisted in the Navy May in 1982, serving as review commander in boot camp. After naval training, he served on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk CV63. After a very successful career he left active duty in 1986, was honorably discharged in 1988.
He was very talented in his choices of employment starting as a paperboy at age 12, through his navy career and ending as warehouse coordinator at GSTC in 2008.
On June 15, 1996, he married the love of his life, Wendy Sue Britcher. He is also survived by three daughters, Melissa (Bryan) Kirk of Bentonville, Arkansas, Brooke (Dan) Brimmer of Dubuque and Stepphine Tilden of Cedar Rapids; his father, Harold Britcher of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Phyl Britcher of Cedar Rapids; his mother-in-law, Vivian (Gary) Beatty of Atkins; two sisters, Cindy (Joe) Schupanitz and Tracey (Scott Peterson) Pike both of Cedar Rapids; three brothers-in-law, Bob (Theresa) McGlashing of Cedar Rapids, Jeff McGlashing of Cedar Rapids and Matt McGlashing of St. Augustine, Florida; and his rambunctious grandbabies, Zachary 10, Isaiah 7, Benjamin 5, Amelia 4, all of Dubuque. He is also remembered by a very special friend, Theresa Britcher.
Some of his greatest joys were his three dogs, Qbert, Rusty and Dexter. He was an overall sports nut when it came to Rusty Wallace, Iowa Hawkeyes, bowling and golf. Brad and Wendy spent many happy moments camping with their camping buddies.
He will be greatly missed by every life he touched. See ya soon Weasel!
