Boyd Chilson "(Bud, Jake)" Jacobs

Boyd “Bud” “Jake” Chilson Jacobs, 89, of rural Marion, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. The family will greet friends from 4 ?" 8, Monday, July 6, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. A private graveside service will be held at a cemetery in Winfield.
Survivors include his wife, Bernita of Marion; his children, Bill (Pam) Jacobs, Nancy Jacobs-DeSotel, both of Marion, Donna (Denny) Sanborn of Lake City, Minnesota and Patricia (James) Hand of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters and an infant brother.
Boyd was born April 4, 1920, the son of Harvey and Ella (Chilson) Jacobs, in Marsh, Iowa, near Winfield. He married Bernita Ross on September 12, 1943. Boyd worked at Iowa Manufacturing as a carpenter for 35 years. He lived on the same farm in rural Marion for 74 years. His life and love was his family and his farm.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Boyd’s memory.
