Blanche O. Lassen (Swacka)

Blanche O. (Swacka) Lassen, 92, of 4116 Lexington Dr. NE, died Thursday, January 10, 2008, following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Howard Chapman. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Larry Lassen, Dennis (Terry) Lassen, and Sharen (Rick) Lassen-Olsson, all of Salem, Oregon; her brother, Richard Swacka of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Dorothy Krotz of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Daniel, Glenn, Chris, Steve, Kerri, and Shelli; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Betty (Randy) Schultz of Atkins, Shirley (Tony) Pantini of Marion, Barbara (Larry) Jones of Custer, South Dakota, JoAnn Klein of Springville, and Dale Lassen of Springville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert Lassen; and two brothers, Charles and Bernard Swacka.
Blanche was born September 11, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Kovarik) Swacka, Sr. in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Washington High School in 1934. Blanche was a homemaker and an artist. She enjoyed hand crafts and loved gardening, especially her roses.
