William “Bill” Everett Nielson, 91, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.

Bill was born on October 28, 1932, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Harry and Doris (Fagle) Nielson. He was a graduate of Marion High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy Reserve. In 1952, Bill was united in marriage to Jeannine Freeman in Marion. His passion in life was farming. Bill enjoyed rock collecting, fishing, and having coffee at Waubeek. Bill was a member of the Iowa Blacksmith Weldors Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, and a Director of the Brown Township Insurance Board. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bill is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Justine (Jim) Meyerhoff of Cedar Rapids, and Sandy (Carl) Stein of Odessa, Missouri; grandchildren, Molly (Craig) Olson of Waukee, Kelsey (Cody) Graves of Central City, Joel (Heather) Stein of St. Clair, Missouri, Erin (Paul) Hughes of Kansas City, Missouri, and Nathan (Lauren) Stein of Farmington, Missouri; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Dora Nielson of Marion and Vonda Freeman of Brandon, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannine in 2008; and brother, Norm Nielson in 2022.
