Bill L. Heeren, 72, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Military Honors will start the visitation at 2 p.m. and the visitation will go until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Bill was born February 26, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Lyman and Bertha (Wells) Heeren. He graduated from Olin High School in Olin, Iowa and attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked at Quaker Oats for 30 years before retiring in 2013. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa, Iowa. Bill loved to take care of his flowers and landscaping at his home. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Marla Leaf-Heeren; sons, Cory (Nicole) McBride and Mark (Kallie) Mysak; siblings, Virginia “Larry” Harlow, Brenda Childers, Angela Hoose and James (Oune) French; many grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Bertha; and siblings, Linda and Daniel Heeren.
