Bill Gene Cornell, Sr., 71, of 1233 3rd St. NW, died at St. Luke?s Hospital, Thursday, February 20, 2003, following a long illness. Graveside Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2003, at the Center Point Cemetery, by Rev. John Caughron, with military rites. Arrangements made by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.

Survivors include his children, Kristi (Michael) Hall of Center Point, Wayne Cornell of Davenport, Lenny (Sonjia) Cornell, Kim Cornell and Billy (Regina) Cornell Jr. of Cedar Rapids; his mother; Ruth (Stocher) Cornell of Cedar Rapids; a brother, James Cornell of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, Douglas, Jeffrey and Kurtis Cornell, Angela Stocker, Christopher Cornell and Josh Knockle; great-grandchildren, Elliott and Kaylea Stocker, Zachery, Hannah and Bradley Cornell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jocelyn; a son, Michael Cornell and a brother, Carl Cornell.

Bill was born October 30, 1931, in Liberal, Kansas, the son of James and Ruth (Stocker) Cornell. He married Jocelyn England on Augusts 4, 1952. He was a Trucker for Teamsters Union and owned and operated Cornell Bait & Tackle. Bill served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW, Teamsters and Eagle?s Club. Bill was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He was a great grandfather and best known as "Papa Bill?. Bill touched many lives and and will be deeply missed by many.
