Beverly Schissel, 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 2, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. Memorial party will be held at the IBEW Union Hall on Wiley Blvd. from 4-7 on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Schissel of Cedar Rapids; children, Denise Shawinsky of Cedar Rapids, Kevin (Teri) Schissel of Martelle, Iowa and Bryan (Chris) Schissel of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Aubrey, Austin, Natasha, Brett, Katelyn and Jack; great-granddaughter, Alannah; and siblings, Delores Hale of Waterloo, Iowa, Judy (Mike) Lickteing of Nora Springs, Iowa, Sally (Tom) Maronde of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Jean Baker of Yuba City, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Agnes Weber; and three sisters.
Beverly was born on February 16, 1944, in Fort Dodge, daughter of Melvin and Agnes (Beaver) Weber. On March 29, 1969, she married Dennis Schissel in Rock Island, Illinois. She always had a hot pot of coffee for friends and free advice.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
