Beulah F. Bebee, 83, of 986 7th St., Marion, died Monday, May 17, 2004, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a sudden illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Howard Chapman. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday (May 20.).
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Robert L. (Marion) Bebee of Rockville, Maryland, and Donald E. (Diane) Bebee of Hiawatha; a sister, Marguerite Ackley of Marion; several nephews and nieces, including Anna Ackley of Marion; a brother-in-law, Dale (Zella Mae) Bebee of Lee?s Summit, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Nylene (Perry) Knapp of Lake Mills, Iowa; and her friend and companion, her dog, Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Hubert Merle Etzel; and her husband Robert.
Beulah Etzel was born September 10, 1920, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Hagerman) Etzel in Lafayette, Iowa. She was a graduate of Marion High School and attended Coe College. On November 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert Bebee in Marion. He died December 18, 1981. Beulah was a consumer account supervisor for Linn County R.E.C. for thirty-three years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she had served as deacon, Marion American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 298 and Marion Business Girls. Beulah was a community volunteer at the Marion Times, a volunteer at the Marion Heritage Center, the Marion senior dining site and was treasurer of the Marion Senior Council.
