Betty Jane Wright, 66, of 5445 Woodbridge Crest, Marion, died Saturday, January 31, 2004, in her home following a lengthy illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. today (Monday) at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Norman; two daughters, Deb Hall and husband Todd of Marion and Donna Matthews and husband Jeffrey of Cedar Rapids; a son, Randy and wife Julie of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Lillian Schmutz and husband Ernie of Muscatine, Iowa; five brothers, Elmer Krakow and wife Naomi, George Krakow and wife Dorothy, Wayne Krakow and wife Else and Dale Krakow and wife Carol, all of Marengo, Iowa, and Clarence Krakow and wife Kathy of Belle Plaine, Iowa; and seven grandchildren, Angela and Jessica Hall, Brandon McCarron, Danny and Zachary Matthews, Kristi and Allison Wright.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Emma Krakow; and a brother, Carl Krakow.
Betty was born April 5, 1937, in Marengo, Iowa to Ernest and Anna Marie Kahler Krakow. On August 2, 1958, she married Norman Wright, in Marengo, Iowa. She was an active participant in her children?s activities, serving as Girl Scout leader and softball coach. She enjoyed creating craft project gifts that are cherished by her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. Betty was also a huge NASCAR fan. After her family was raised, she worked for Me-Too, Jacks and Shopko.
The family gratefully acknowledges the loving care given by the Mercy Home Health Care professionals. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who wish, make a contribution in Betty?s memory to the El Kahir Shrine Transportation Fund or to a charity of the donor?s choice.
