Betty Lorayne Swyers, 88, of Marion, Iowa, died Monday May 11, 2015, at St. Luke’s hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Thursday May 14, 2015 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service Marion. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Survivors include her children, Rusty (Dee) Swyers of Robins, IA, Dusty (Jeannie) Swyers of Cedar Rapids, Becky Swyers of Olin; ten grandchildren an many great grandchildren; her sister, Glennis Brawner of Colfax.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Raymond W. “Ray” Swyers, a brother Harry Covington, and two sisters, Weltha Wall, and Norma Morarie.
Betty was born June 8, 1926, in Viola, daughter of Harry and Verda Mae (Wells) Covington. She married Raymond “Ray” Swyers on June 27, 1942, in Kahoka, MO. Betty was a self-employed daycare provider.
A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s name.
