Betty J. Sprague, 82, of Dubuque, formerly Yucca Valley, California, died July 24, 2005 in her home following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Earlville United Parish in Earlville by Rev. Ross Wyman. Friends may call one hour before services at the church. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville is in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born July 4, 1923 in Ottumwa, the daughter of Samuel T. and Ruby M. (Ham) Holdren. She graduated from Manchester High School. On November 7, 1946 Betty was united in marriage to Leonard Sprague at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Betty worked as an administrative assistant for several Ford dealerships. She lived in California for many years before returning to Iowa in 2002. Leonard died in 1998.

Betty and Leonard enjoyed traveling. Betty liked to collect elephants, go to garage sales and spend time with family and friends. She was a very organized person.

Betty is survived by her special friends and cousins, Ervin & Vivian Ham of Earlville and their family, Connie (Jim) O?Connell and Elaine (Ron) Diesburg; a sister-in-law, Hazel Sprague; brother-in-law, Gilbert Sprague; and other nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established in Betty?s name.
