Betty Lou Sexton, 77, of 370 Ridge Drive, died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at her home, following a 10 year courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2005, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Marion by Father Keith Burch. Immediately following Mass a luncheon will be served at the church. A celebration of Betty?s life will be from 4 - 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a rosary to follow. Graveside Service: 3:00 p.m. Monday at St. Bridget?s Cemetery in Bluffton.
Survivors include her children, Michael Sexton of Cedar Rapids, Colleen Marie Sexton (Ron Rouse) of Grand Junction, Colorado and Robert "Bobby? Sexton of West Hollywood, California; four sisters, June Ryan, Rose Ryan, Marion Haskovec and Norma Jean Smith and husband Gaylord; four grandchildren, Misty, Michael Joseph, Ryan and Rachel; four great-grandchildren; and special friends, Lois "Loie? Verdow, Gloria Larson, Joanie Boyse and all her neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert "Ab? and Della; her step-mother, Alice; her husband, Robert; two brothers, Gerald and George; and a sister, Rita.
Betty was born February 10, 1928, the daughter of Albert "Ab? and Della (Scheidelmantal) Hauber in Decorah. On October 27, 1947, she married Robert C. Sexton at St. Agnus Church (Plymouth Rock). He died January 6, 1985. Betty was a homemaker then worked at Turner Microphone for twenty-two years and Red Lobster for sixteen years from which she retired.
Betty grew up on a farm outside of Kendallville. She always had an open door and loved to spend time with her grandchildren, family and friends, and always enjoyed lots of laughter. Betty made "name doilies? for friends and family for weddings, babies and many other special occasions.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in Betty?s memory.
