Betty J. Scranton, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, November 12, 2009, at home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
Survivors include her children, Kirsta Scranton, Vanessa (Steve) Heathman, and Matthew (Leicha) Scranton; a sister, Doris Guy; three brothers, LeRoy, Eugene and Merle Steward; and four grandchildren, Clara, Nolyn, Robert, and Michaela.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Neal; and a sister, Marlene Duncomb.
Betty was born March 19, 1942, the daughter of Everett and Alma (Schultz) Steward in Mitchell County, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State University. In February of 1970, she married Neal Scranton. Betty worked for the Cedar Rapids schools in the food and nutrition program.
A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s memory.
