Betty Jean Ponsford, 81, formerly of Manchester, died March 15, 2011 at Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011; with services following at 10:00 a.m at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home in Manchester. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Betty was born January 5, 1930 in Manchester, the daughter of Howard A. and Bertha Grimm Jefferis. She was united in marriage on September 23, 1948 to George F. Ponsford at First Lutheran Church in Manchester. Betty lived in Manchester all her life. She was employed at Rockwell Collins in Manchester. Following Betty’s retirement in 1990, she traveled around the United States for several years in an RV, permanently moving to Florida in 2005.
Betty is survived by two children, David (Tammy) Ponsford of Redmond, Oregon and Laurie (Jerry) Hopp of Longwood, FL; two grandchildren, Harrison and Moriah Watts; and one brother, Glenn Jefferis of Waterloo.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, George Ponsford in 1972; and her parents, Howard and Bertha Jefferis.
