Betty Lou Newland

Betty Lou Newland, 75, of 4521 Armar Drive S.E., formerly of Troy Mills, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2006, at Troy Mills Christian Church by Rev. Les Larson. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Rod of Cedar Rapids; her children, Christine (Steve) Nordstrom, Gayle (Dave) Olson, and Michael "Bob? (Stephanie) Willits, all of Cedar Rapids; two step-sons, Scott (Trish) Newland of Dallas, Texas and Joe (Sonya) Newland of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Virginia.
Betty was born December 12, 1930, the daughter of Fred R. and Helen (Lehnhoff) Schorr in Worthington. On August 8, 1973, she married Rod Newland in Miami, Oklahoma. Betty was a ballroom dancer, an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She touched many lives in many different ways and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in Betty?s memory.
