Betty Mae (Halfhill) Herman, 81, of Earlville, died Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.
Memorial Service: 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Manchester United Methodist Church by Pastor Ruth Tibbott. Visitation: 9:00 am till to services time, Monday at the church. Inurnment: Zion Cemetery, Colesburg, IA at a later date.
Betty was born July 25, 1929 in Wood Center, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Amy (Beaman) Halfhill. Graduating from Buck Creek High School, she received her teacher certification from Iowa Teachers College and Upper Iowa College. She was united in marriage to Arthur Herman on June 4, 1955. Following her marriage, Betty taught at the SS Peter & Paul Schools in Petersburg, IA.
Betty is survived by two children, Lyle Herman of Earlville and Darla (Dave) Gaskill of Manchester; two grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Cashen and Scott (Emily) Gaskill; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Cameron, Abigail, Madeline, and Kate; seven brothers and sisters, Geralda (Bob) Wiig, Lois Halfhill, Lyndall Weir, Myrle Kasner, Wanda Gulick, Robert (Tami) Halfhill, and David (Judy Staner) Halfhill.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Art in 1992; her parents, Fred and Amy Halfhill; and one sister, Gladys Primley.
A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s name.
