Betty Jean Green

Betty Jean Green, 72, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Opp, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at her home. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services held at this time. A private committal will take place at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Betty was born on February 5, 1952, in Opp, Alabama, the daughter of Herman Sr. and Rena (Jessie) Green. She was a graduate of Opp High School and went on to become a caregiver for many years. She enjoyed spending time outside in her garden, tending to her plants, vegetables, and flowers. Betty had a sweet tooth and always desired a good piece of chocolate. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shannon Hinton of Marion; two grandsons, Marquez Hinton of Opp, and Myson Rogers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; as well as her longtime significant other, Maurice Jarret of Bronx, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Summer Rogers; sister, Aleane Moore; and brothers, Billy Green and Herman Green Jr.
