Betty B. Dykhuizen, 87, of 1285 30th Street N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, June 02, 2008, in Living Center East, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor James McCoy. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona.
Survivors include her son, William “Bill” (Barbara) Dykhuizen; four grandchildren, Reno Faust, Julie Shuford, Desiree Vik and Jody Faust; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Joseph Beranek.
Betty was born May 1, 1921, in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of William and Gertrude (DeWess) Beranek. She worked at the Palace Theater, Woolworths and HyVee as a cashier.
Betty was a member of First Pentecostal Church in Cedar Rapids. Betty loved the Lord and was very kind and considerate to everyone. Some of Betty’s joys were bingo, quilting and crocheting.
